Energizing Schools in Leticia

Our second project involves providing not just energy, but also WiFi to a school in the Amazon. This area is located just north of Leticia, Colombia, where three countries (Colombia, Brazil and Peru) are separated by the mighty Amazon river.

This incredibly wet and humid part of the world makes electrical infrastructure difficult to build a proper grid, so solar energy on the roof, supplemented by batteries within the school allows the students as much energy as they need for a proper education.

Here is an extended interview with Clara, the main teacher at San Juan, Colombia, discussing the importance of electricity to their village and how everyone can benefit from having power and Wi-Fi at their school.

Our fellow CLIC member Ben showed us this video and got us all on board to get this second project in motion. See some visuals of Leticia as well as the Amazonian villages we will help provide electricity to through our efforts.

Ready to make an impact?

Any amount of donation aids these children in what we consider to be a basic human right- access to 24/7 electricity- so that they can educate themselves, improve their community and open new doors to their future.
